The New York Islanders lost by a score of 4-1 in last night’s game in Anaheim. We also no longer know what goalie interference is.

After not playing since Saturday evening, the New York Islanders finally dropped the puck for their fifth game last night. It didn’t go as played, as they would end up falling to the Ducks by a score of 4-1.

One of the more controversial plays in the game was an Islander goal that was called back. Cal Clutterbuck and Mathew Barzal were whacking away at the puck and at John Gibson’s pads until the puck went in.

There was never a whistle, and the play was ruled a goal on the ice. Yet after review, they ended up taking the goal of the board.

The bone I have to pick is with the refs here. If you don’t blow the whistle how are you penalizing Clutter and Barzal for playing until the whistle? It doesn’t make any sense at all.

This call completly changed the game. It would’ve been 1-1 but instead, the Ducks would go on to the get the next goal before going on to win a 4-1 game. Johnny Boychuk also ended up getting banged up after taking a shot off the ankle in this one.
