It’s no secret that New York Islanders forward Anthony Beauvillier has had a tough go so far this season. But it’s only five games in, should we be so tough on him?

We’re five games into the 2018-19 NHL regular season and New York Islanders Anthony Beauvillier doesn’t have a point yet. Which, for some reason, means he has to be put on the third line to play with Valtteri Filppula and Cal Clutterbuck.

Should we be so quick to punish Beau for his lack of production? If we remember, just last season Mathew Barzal didn’t put up a point until game number six. And he was just fine.

Obviously, they are two different players even when they’re both scoring points. But it goes to show that a slow start could be just that; a slow start. Putting him on a line with inferior players to the ones he’s currently playing with won’t solve the issue.

What Else Do We Talk About?

Andrew Ladd is back in the lineup…and playing with Mathew Barzal on the “second” line. Sure, Ladd scored a goal on his return to the lineup, but to put him with Barzal seems like a leap. Isn’t playing with Brock Nelson and Jordan Eberle a better fit, skill wise for Ladd?

William Nylander is still without a contract. The Toronto Maple Leafs GM is said to be in Europe to discuss things with his young star, but no contract has materialized just yet. Should the New York Islanders step in with a trade proposal? And is Nick Leddy for William Nylander fair?

Construction on the new Belmont arena is said to be scheduled for May. Are you excited? On a scale from one to five, how excited are you for construction to begin on Belmont? For me it’s low, but for Matt, it’s pretty high.
