The New York Islanders young defenseman Ryan Pulock finally netted his first goal of the year. Hopefully, it’s one of many coming for the 24-year-old.
It’s crazy to think that at this time last year, Ryan Pulock wasn’t an everyday starter on the New York Islanders blue line. Now, Pulock has emerged as the Islanders best defender playing close to 23 minutes a night on the top pair.
He’s played relatively well, all things considered, outside of finding the score sheet. Heading into yesterday’s game he had just one assist.
Pulock got his first of the year and it ended up being a game-winning goal for the Islanders as well. Last year, in just 68 games Ryan Pulock was able to net 10 goals, five of which came on the power play.
With a more regular role for the entire year, and more minutes you would assume that he would grow on his 10 goal, 32 point season from 2017-2018. Right now he’s on pace for just 16 points but expect that number to go up.
Pulock has the potential to put up five points in a game, he did it last year, so that pace will eventually catch up. I still have my money on Pulock cracking the 40 point mark this season.
