Nick Leddy is a shadow of his former self. Making the New York Islanders defenseman expendable. If he’s on his way out here’s a few spots where he could land.

Since December of 2017 something has been off about New York Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy. Just in November of 2017, he was getting Norris buzz from then head coach Doug Weight, and then it all went away. Rapidly.

In November of 2017, Nick Leddy was scoring points and generally playing the type of hockey we’ve come to expect from him. But since then Leddy just isn’t the same player.

He still posses all of the skills that brought him to the Isles. He still has that outstanding skating ability. He still has that quickness. And he still has that ability to score points. He’s just not using it at the moment.

Last season I thought it might be some sort of injury that was bugging Nick Leddy. But with no news of any sort of surgery or rehab during the summer that theory was easily put to bed.

Who knows what’s going on with Nick Leddy, we just know something is off and has been for some time. The way the Islanders are currently playing losing Nick Leddy isn’t the end of the world.

Barry Trotz seems to be able to get the best out of the players at his disposal. They already have Devon Toews who’s ready to take the next step in his career.

If the Isles look to move Nick Leddy a number of teams would definitely be interested in his services. Here’s five.
