After the New York Islanders wild 7-5 win over the New York Rangers, Brock Nelson showed he can step up, and he has the whole season so far.

Brock Nelson has had a great season thus far. He showed all New York Islanders fans what he is capable of. Everything Nelson has been doing right this season was summed up in his performance against the New York Rangers.

Nelson was all over the ice for the Islanders. Nelson showed offensive prowess and caused all sorts of problems for the Rangers. His goal showed how much of a threat he can be around the net.

But Nelson made a tremendous defensive play late in the game. With under a minute left and the Rangers’ net empty, Nelson stripped

of the puck and took it all the way behind the net to set up Clutterbuck to seal the game with a 7-5 lead. This is what Islanders fans have been dying to see from Nelson.

Proving His Worth

Nelson showed he can step up in big moments and execute. Nelson has been accused of hiding and taking shifts off for most of his career. But not this season. Nelson has been playing with a motivation and it was all out on display against the Rangers.

Nelson didn’t just have a great anomaly, he’s been playing like this all season. Nelson currently leads the Islanders in goals with nine and is tied for third on the team in points with 15. With Nelson playing this well, some eyebrows have been raised.

Nelson is currently on a one-year contract but if he continues to perform this well over the whole season, the Islanders should extend him.
