The New York Islanders may have $10 million in cap space but that doesn’t mean this team is without poor contracts. Here are the five worst.
The Garth Snow era was one the New York Islanders and their fans would love to forget. It was filled with poor decisions, underachieving, and most importantly awful contracts. Today, we’ll be looking at the worst contracts on the team, most of which come from the Garth Snow era.
One of the important things to remember in year one of the Lou Lamoriello era is the contracts he has to endure.
Sure, we would’ve loved to see Lou come in guns blazing, especially after losing John Tavares, but the reality here is it’s going to take time for the Isles to shed some contracts if they chose to do so that is.
Right now, there are five contracts that jump off the page to me in terms of being flat out bad. Some of these deals that we’ll talk about didn’t start off badly but they became worse over time. While others were head-scratchers from the start.
We’ll start by heading to the blue line for someone who went from the top pair to the scratch pad faster than anyone in history.
