New York Islanders 2018-19 Roster 5 Best Contracts

4. Ryan Pulock
Cap Hit: $2 million
Production: 6 points, 22 games
How much does a top pairing defenseman go for? Somewhere around $6 to $10 million? How about $2 million?
That’s what the New York Islanders are paying for Ryan Pulock’s services this season and next season. After a year where Pulock took a huge step forward they Isles signed the 24-year-old top pairing D to a two year $4 million deal.
Ryan Pulock is the present and immediate future of the New York Islanders blue line. He can play big minutes, he can create offense, and he’s got a killer shot.
Of course, he’s not perfect. That big shot of his has been having a hard time hitting the net of late, rendering it almost useless.
Barry Trotz has used Ryan Pulock a lot this season and in every situation. He’s averaging 18:53 at 5on5, 1:39 on the man-advantage, and 2:32 short-handed. Pulock has the coach’s trust.
The points are a little off from last season where he put up 32 points, but he’s learning a new system and is facing better opponents.
At $2 million the Islanders are getting an absolute bargain for Ryan Pulock.
