The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 67 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

The New York Islanders are coming off a letdown loss to the Washington Capitals on Monday night. With the Islanders two-game winning streak coming to an end there’s a lot to discuss this week on the show.

The Islanders second line right now is Anders Lee – Brock Nelson – Jordan Eberle. Of those three who do the New York Islanders decide to keep and who moves on? Also this week, Michael Dal Colle was shipped back down to Bridgeport. We’ll get into his call-up and why we think he was sent down.

Val Filppula, the Islanders third line center, has been fantastic. In 23 games he has 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists) and he’s on pace to turn back the clock to 2013. Finally, the Islanders are set to return home to the Coliseum on Saturday. We’ll discuss how excited we are to see the team back where they belong.

Here’s what you can expect from episode 67:

Topics

UFAs Second Line

The entire second line is due a new contract at the end of the year. There’s no shot we see all three come back so who stays and who gets to go?

What happened to Michael Dal Colle?

Michael Dal Colle averaged 8:48 of ice time in the two games he played this year. What was the point of even calling him up?

Valtteri Filppula hot streak

Did someone tell Val Filppula that it was 2013? The man is producing like the 28-year-old version of himself, giving the Isles great value on the one-year deal.

Coliseum

The Islanders are returning home to the Coliseum on Saturday. We’ll be there tailgating and then we’ll head on in to enjoy the fun.

Social

In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
