MOSCOW, RUSSIA – MAY 22: Ilya Sorokin

Europe

Ilya Sorokin | GP: 23 SV%: 0.940 GAA: 1.23

Ilya Sorokin is still the number one goalie prospect outside of the NHL. His 1.23GAA and 0.940SV% are keeping KHL side CSKA Moscow at the top of the Tarasov Division with 90 points in 36 games.

Islanders fans were all salivating earlier this week when Arthur Staple mentioned the Russian goalie as a possibility between the pipes, sooner rather than later. Only for Igor Eronko to put that possibility to rest.

If Sorokin wants to leave before 2020 he’ll have to buy out his deal and to do that he’ll have to apply 15 months before he buyout can happen. And Sorokin, has yet to start that process.

Even if Sorokin doesn’t cross the Atlantic until 2020 he’s putting up video game numbers in the KHL for the fifth straight season.
