Picks 6-10

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Philip Broberg. 6. D. . 103

The Avalanche acquired this pick in the Matt Duchene trade from last year. Colorado is playing well while Ottawa is a dumpster fire. Nonetheless, Colorado gets the best defenseman off the board at 6. Broberg is putting up solid numbers for Sweeden in the U18 tournament.

LW. . Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Matthew Boldy. 7. 68

Boldy is the first LW off the board. Playing in the USDP this year he has 25 points (15 goals, 10 assists) in 23 games. Boldy is already committed to Boston College next year. Maybe he’ll play with Oliver Wahlstrom?

D. Pick Analysis. Bowen Byram. 8. 97. Scouting Report.

The Cranbrook native is playing his hockey in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants. Byram has been a point machine for Vancouver with 24 points (8 goals, 16 assists) in 28 games. He’d be a welcomed addition to the Panthers prospect pool.

Alex Turcotte. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. . C. 9. 72

The five-foot-eleven American is an exciting player to watch. He’s a good skater who plays at an extremely fast pace. He’s played three games with the USDP this year but has two points. Turcotte is committed to the University of Wisconsin.

C. . 95. Pick Analysis. Raphael Lavoie. 10. Scouting Report

The 18-year-old center is playing in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads. He was nearly a point per game player last year putting up 63 points in 68 games. This year he’s eclipsed the point per game mark so far with 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in 27 games.
