In the spirit of Christmas, we wanted to give a gift to five players (and management). Gifts that they could use to for a variety of reasons.

It’s the gift giving season. So in light of that we wanted to give out gifts to a few New York Islanders players and one particular person in management.

We’ve seen some of these players for years now. We’ve observed them from afar and have a pretty good sense of what they could use as a Christmas gift this year.

So we picked four players and someone in management who we felt could use a specific gift to either improve their play or so that we could clear our conscious from early season predictions we made that have come back to bite us just under halfway through the season.

(Who thought in September that the Islanders would be two-points out of a playoff spot with a game in hand at Christmas?)

As fans I think I speak for most when I say that we got our gift. We got competent management for the first time since Bill Torrey left. We have good coaching since Al Arbour.  They’re back at the Coliseum. And we have a team that’s playing like they belong for the first time in a long time.

And it isn’t a fluke! The Islanders are where t hey are on purpose!

Merry Christmas.
