New York Islanders 3 Things Learnt In Win Over Toronto Maple Leafs
The New York Islanders took down the Toronto Maple Leafs in flawless fashion with a 4-0 victory. Looking back on the game, there are three things we can learn about the Isles.
How good did it feel when the New York Islanders trounced the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 in their own barn? After months of dealing with smug Leafs fans, it was cathartic to get the ‘W’.
Not only did the Islanders win, but they did so by keeping John Tavares and the second-best offense in the league totally silent. They scored on the power-play. Mathew Barzal scored a natural hat-trick and Barry Trotz earned his 782nd coaching win, equaling Al Arbour’s record.
The Isles were #winning all over the place. (Oh, and Michael Dal Colle got his first NHL point on Valtteri Filppula’s goal too).
It just doesn’t get any better than that. Playing against the Leafs, for the first time since Tavares joined them and just dominating them is perfection.
Looking back on the game and taking stock of what took place there are three lessons we can take away: (1) the New York Islanders can play, (2) Mathew Barzal is one heck of a shooter, and (3) Robin Lehner is a starter
