New York Islanders Three Trade Deadline Darkhorse Targets

Tyler Toffoli | Los Angeles Kings
GP: 50 Points: 20
Cap Hit: $4.6 million, 2 Years
The Los Angeles Kings are selling off just about anything that isn’t tied down with a $10+ million contract. That means Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty aren’t going anywhere.
But they’ve already traded away Jake Muzzin to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a first round pick in 2019 as well as two prospects. And they aren’t done there. They have a few players that could yield a good return as we get to the trade deadline.
Players like Tyler Toffoli. The 26-year-old center still has two years left on his deal and has 30 goal and 60 point potential. Just three years ago he scored 31 goals and 58 points. Since that season mind you his return has steadily declined. This year Toffoli has scored 20 points in 50 games.
Pulling him and his nice $4.6 million contract out of Los Angeles might not be too difficult. Side him next to Mathew Barzal and the two could and should theoretically hit it off big. Slot him on the right side of Barzal and flid Josh Bailey on the left and that should round out the Islanders top six.
Say what you will about Anthony Beauvillier but in his two and a half seasons in the NHL, he’s never come close to the 60 point plateau.
