Quietly, Josh Bailey has been on fire for the New York Islanders. He has 10 points in his last 10 games and 48 on the season already.

For some reason, a facet of New York Islanders fans still loves to get on Josh Bailey. After the last three years, I really don’t know how you can continue to hate on someone who has produced well and took a team friendly deal.

Regardless, over the past 10 games, Bailey has been on another planet. He has 10 points over that span and is now up to 48 on the season. That puts him on a 62 point pace for the season, which is a great return for $5 million against the cap.

Many believed that Bailey would take a step back after not being able to play with John Tavares anymore. Both he and Anders Lee have been just fine since the Tavares departure proving that they are just solid NHL hockey players.

Of course, 62 points isn’t the 71 he put up last year but when you think of the context that the Isles are in a much more defensive system and that he’s only making $5 million against the cap you sign up for that every day of the week.

Don’t hate on Josh Bailey, it’s silly. He’s a very solid piece to this Islanders team on an extremely team-friendly cap number.
