Switzerland

Overall, Switzerland has produced just two skaters that have played for the Isles.

Mark Streit, D

Spending four seasons with the Islanders, Streit would play in 286 games, racking up 139 assists and 179 points in total. In 2011, Streit would be named the captain of the Isles, and remain captain until his rights were traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2013.

Demark

There have only been two Danish skaters to skate up for the Islanders.

Frans Nielsen, C

Drafted in the third round (87th overall), the Islanders selected a solid player in Nielsen. Playing in 606 games over 10 seasons for the team, Nielsen racked up 349 points. Additionally, Nielsen is well known for his success in shootouts.

Lithuania

Lithuania has produced one skater that has played for the Islanders.

Darius Kasparaitis, D

Over five seasons with the Islanders, Kasparaitis played in 232 games and only produced 46 points. However, he was not the kind of defenseman to score. Instead, he is known for delivering devastating hip checks to his opponents.
