Anthony Beauvillier

The 21-year-old Anthony Beauvillier has disappointed this year in his third season with the club. After a strong second half last season, Beau finished the season with 21 goals and looked to be taking a step forward in his development.

As a result, fans, myself included, went and penciled him in as someone who should be able to put up 45 points or more this year based on the last 30 games or so of the 2017-2018 season.

Through 74 games, Beau has 16 goals and 24 points. That’s 12 points fewer than he produced last year. Not once was Beau sent down and he’s only missed one game this year.

Just because he hit 21 goals last year and was a first-round selection doesn’t mean that Anthony Beauvillier is going to be guaranteed a top-six forward. If anything, he looks more and more like a third line guy.

Maybe he’s someone who can hit the 20 goal and 35 point mark at the absolute most but after three years in the league, he appears to be someone to give you roughly 15 goals and 25-30 points in a year.

You need guys like that on your roster but with the other Islanders vets in the bottom six he’s been given a second line role quite often and that’s way too big of a role for Beauvillier.
