New York Islanders 2019 NHL Mock Draft 2.0

Picks 6-10
Pick Analysis. Peyton Krebs. 6. Scouting Report. C/LW. Kootenay Ice. 105
With the old core of Ryan Getzlaf and Correy Perry already 33-years-old, the Anaheim Ducks have to start building for the future. Peyton Krebs can fill that void. The versatile playmaker has put up over a point-per-game in his draft year, is a leader for his team, and had an impressive Hlinka Memorial Tournament. He may not be NHL ready today, but when they need him he’ll be ready.
95. Pick Analysis. C. Kirby Dach. Saskatoon Blades. 7. Scouting Report
With three picks in the first round last year, the Rangers picked two defensemen and a winger. With their first-round pick in 2019 they’ll be able to draft a center in Kirby Dach. He’s got the size and skill to be a great player, but his skating speed has been questioned.
Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LW. Matthew Boldy. 8. 12. USDP
To think that the Buffalo Sabres were in a playoff position at one point in 2018-19. Phil Housley was even generating Jack Adams buzz, now their drafting within the top 10. Life comes at you fast.
Boldy is a fantastic player scoring 61 points in 51 games for the U18 team alongside number one overall pick Jack Hughes. Boldy can play with top tier players (like a Jack Eichel), or away from them, as he’s demonstrated on a few occasions when playing away from Hughes.
9. C. USDP. Trevor Zegras. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 148
The Edmonton Oilers are likely going to finish the season with two 100 point players and still miss the playoffs. It’s absolutely wild that the Oilers are where they are. With the ninth overall pick, they’ll take Trevor Zegras. A center with incredible skill, he could add top end skill on a cheap ELC deal. Two huge positives for a team that somehow needs more skill and is tight to the cap.
D. 10. 104. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Brynas (SHL). Victor Soderstrom
With Ellias Petersson, Brock Boeser, and Bo Horvat, the Canucks have quality up top. They’re just missing some of that quality in other positions, namely defense. Victor Soderstrom is a player that can move the puck forward out of the D-zone. He can link up with forwards effectively and has some great skill and speed.
