Mathew Barzal

Mathew Barzal is the New York Islanders best player. The playoffs are his time to shine. The New York Islanders will be counting on him to shoulder the burden of generating much of the Islanders offense.

Barzal creates the most scoring chances (for forwards) on the team with 587. He’s third in expected goals for per 60 on the team. And more importantly, he leads the team in points with 62. He’s already the teams most offensively dynamic force.

For 82 games in the regular this year Mathew Barzal lead the New York Islanders offense. He’ll need to do it again in the playoffs.

The Islanders offense will be their weakest attribute going into the playoffs. Ranking 22nd in terms of goals per game, 22nd in goals scored, and 29th on the power play. Barzal is going to be relied upon to help find a new gear offensively for the Islanders.

The playoffs are the absolute biggest stage and if Barzal wants to be considered as not only one of the better players on the Islanders but one of the better players in the league, this is where he’ll make that leap.
