The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 87 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

Isn’t it fitting that the New York Islanders just knocked off the Pittsburgh Penguins as we get to episode 87? Sometimes things line up just too perfect. Tonight’s episode will be a full recap of the Penguins series.

It took six days for the Islanders to finish off the Penguins. For the first time since 1983 the Isles were able to sweep a team, moving to 9-0 when up 3-0 in their history.

Here’s what you can expect from episode 87:

Topics

What got into Jordan Eberle?

Jordan Eberle had four goals in the series and was one of the key cogs in the Islanders sweep over the Penguins. What caused him to break out and is he worth giving another contract to?

Robin Lehner continues impressive play

The year of Lehner continued in round one. In the four-game set, Lehner had a .956 save percentage and a 1.47 goals against average. Unreal stuff from the Isles netminder.

How the Islanders shut down the Pens top scorers

Evgeni Malkin had three points, Sidney Crosby had one, Jake Guentzel had one, Phil Kessel had one, and Patrik Hornqvist had one. The Isles were also 10/11 on the penalty kill. An absolute dominant performance from the Isles in this series.

3 stars of the series

After each game, Mitch and I give our three stars. This time, we’ll give our three stars for all four games. It’s going to be really hard to narrow it down to just three.

Social

In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
