New York Islanders: Bridgeport Sound Tigers Open Up AHL Playoffs

The New York Islanders AHL affiliate, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have returned to the AHL playoffs. They’re looking to advance for the first time since 2003.
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders) are taking on the Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals) in the first round of the playoffs. It’s the first time since the 2015-2016 season that the Sound Tigers are playoff bound.
With 95 points to their name, Bridgeport had a nice bounce-back season. Chris Bourque led the way in scoring with 54 points (15 goals, 39 assists). As for goals, the leader was veteran Steve Bernier with 24.
Some notable prospects who performed well this year for the Sound Tigers are Otto Koivula, Josh Ho-Sang, and Sebastian Aho. Micahel Dal Colle, who is with the big club, had 34 points (18 goals, 16 assists) in 34 games with the club.
2018 first round pick, Oliver Wahlstrom recently entered into the fold with the Sound Tigers. In five games he has three points (2 goals, 1 assist). Keep an eye on him in this series as Bridgeport tries to advance for the first time since 2003.
Also if you have a ticket to the game tonight and a Sound Tiger scores a hat trick you’re in luck. RPM Raceway in Stamford will give a free race to those who present their ticket stub. It’s redeemable only on Monday, April 22nd and it’s a limit of one per customer.
Here’s to hoping for a Sound Tigers win and a hat trick so you can take your racing talents to Stamford.
