Going from 17 points out of the playoffs last season to a 103 point season this year, the entire 2018-19 season was a bounce-back year for the New York Islanders, but what about individual players?

The New York Islanders were the first NHL team to go from the worst to first in goals against in a single season since the 1919 Ottawa Senators. That stat alone highlights the bounce-back that occurred for the Islanders this season.

Under Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz, the Islanders almost immediately became a better team. It was and continues to be an incredible turnaround.

But if we turn that focus to individual players, who had incredible bounce-back seasons for the New York Islanders?

By bounce-back seasons, I’m talking about players that not only played well but did so unexpectedly. What four players had years that absolutely came out of nowhere considering the season they had in 2017-18?
