All of the focus was on eleventh overall pick Oliver Wahlstrom at the collegiate level for Islanders fans. And rightfully so. But, as we all know, Wahlstrom’s season didn’t go according to plan with 19 points in 38 games.

But he turned pro, signed his ELC with the club, and made his start in the AHL just a few weeks ago. Through five regular season games and another five playoff games, Wahlstrom scored seven points for the Sound Tigers. It seems he’ll be just fine.

How about Nick Pastujov? He scored 24 points in 36 games for the University of Michigan. The Isles seventh-round pick in 2017, added nine points to his totals from last season. He’s going to be someone to watch.

Pastujov just finished his third year at the college level. He might be a candidate to bring into the AHL rather than have him complete his fourth year and be able to walk as a free agent.
