New York Islanders 2018-19 End of Season Prospect Report

Europe
Originally I had Anatoly Golyshev, but he just signed a new deal with Avtomobilist so I took him out. He’s probably not going to be leaving the KHL for the NHL any time soon. And with our recent experiment with Jan Kovar, that’s might be for the best.
The same can’t be said for Ilya Sorokin. The Russian goalie once again put up incredible numbers over in the KHL. He had 11 shutouts with a 0.940SV% and 1.16GAA in 40 games played. Incredible.
He still has another year on his deal so the earliest he can make the jump to the NHL is next season. I know I just referenced the Jan Kovar experience tainting any possible Russian import, but Kovar didn’t have Sorokin level numbers.
Imagine a stud goalie in a Barry Trotz system. No one will ever score on us! (Now I’m getting carried away.)

The New York Islanders system looks nice and healthy. They have quality in almost every position (they could use a center or two) and at various stages of development. Some are ready now, while others are a few years away. It’s a steady stream of young (and cheap) talent that will steadily populate the Islanders ranks.
