2017 sixth-round pick, Arnaud Durandeau is having himself an impressive season in the QMJHL. The New York Islanders prospect had a big game last night.

Usually, sixth-round picks are a major dart throw in the NHL Draft. Although it seems like the New York Islanders may have a potential gem in Arnaud Durandeau who is currently playing in the QMJHL for the Halifax Mooseheads.

He was drafted 165th overall after a 41 point campaign in 2016-2017. He was able to improve to a 53 point (20 goals, 53 assists) season in 2017-2018, making a blip on the radar in terms of the prospect pool.

He blew that season out of the water this year, improving by 20 points. In 68 games he had 73 points (38 goals, 35 assists). The Isles prospect had a stellar game in Game 4 of the President’s Cup Final.

He had a three-point night including this goal that made it a 4-1 game.

Understand that the QMJHL is a scoring league and everyone puts up big numbers, but still his progression is worth noting.

He has yet to sign an entry-level contract with the Islanders but perhaps the 20-year-old puts pen to paper after this strong season in the Q. The Islanders could use all the forward depth they can get in the prospect pool.
