This week’s New York Islanders weekly trade wire includes trades with the Montreal Canadiens for Jonathan Drouin and with the Winnipeg Jets for Nikolaj Ehlers.

Every week I try to find a few trade rumors around the NHL and apply them to the New York Islanders. I find players that are rumored to be on the trading block and that could interest the New York Islanders.

I find top six players on the trade block and create what I feel is a sufficient trade package for that player. I find that I’m constantly using the same players as trade bait from the Isles and that my bias towards the Islanders can affect my sense of what a player might be worth.

This week, rather than try to create my own trade proposals for rumored players I was able to find two rumors where the writer came up with the trade proposal themselves. The first is a trade that directly involved the New York Islanders while the second is between two Western Conference teams. I just apply that trade package to the Islanders.
