The New York Islanders are just two weeks away from the opening of the NHL’s free agency period and captain Anders Lee hasn’t signed. If he goes, who can the Islanders bring in to replace him?
Free agents like New York Islanders captain Anders Lee can start talking to other teams on a contract as soon as June 26th. As we get closer to that date, the likelihood of Anders Lee testing the open market grows.
It seems that the sticking point between the Islanders and their captain is over the term of the contract. The Isles are comfortable with a five or six-year deal, while Lee and his agent are looking for a seven-year deal.
Neither side has moved at this point and the free agent speaking window is getting closer. If Anders Lee leaves, who can the Islanders bring in to replace Lee?
In this post, I’ll be specifically targeting unrestricted free agents and not looking at players that could be available via trade
Can the New York Islanders bring in a player that can put in 30 goals? Can they bring in a player that can be as effective in the front of the net as Anders Lee?
Here are three options.
