The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 101 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
Mitch and I are back and ready to talk some New York Islanders hockey with you guys. It’s been pretty quiet in Isles land but there were a couple of signings this week that we can relate to the Islanders and their future.
For instance, the Rangers just inked Jacob Trouba to a seven-year $56 million ($8 million AAV) contract. With Pulock set to be an RFA next year, is this the kind of contract we can expect from him or will he cost you less?
Also this week, in an Athletic article, there was a top-50 prospects list. The Islanders had Noah Dobson, Oliver Wahlstrom, and Bode Wilde in the top-50 with Ilya Sorokin as an honorable mention proving the team has a deep prospect pool.
Lastly, with the Colton Sissons contract it raised the question, why do teams love giving term to bottom-six forwards? We’ll try to get into that and more on this week’s show.
Here’s what you can expect from episode 101:
Ryan Pulock vs Jacob Trouba
We saw what Jacob Trouba just got, what kind of deal will Ryan Pulock get? And is he as good as what Jacob Trouba is at this point in his career?
3 prospects in the Top 50
The Islanders have three prospects in the top 50 with Ilya Sorokin as an honorable mention. Also, Isles prospects aren’t going to the summer showcase.
Why do teams overvalue the bottom six, who are fourth line center options, and will they sign another bottom-six player before the season?
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
