Number 6: Simon Holmstrom (Right Wing | Age: 18)

The Islanders snatched up Simon Holmstrom in the first round of the 2019 draft. He’s described as a goal-scoring winger who is good on the ice in all situations, something both Barry Trotz and Lou Lamoriello look for in a player.

He had 20 points in just 21 games now but is supposedly fully healthy heading into the 2019-2020 season. He also just signed his ELC but is expected to play back in Sweeden this year before coming over to the AHL.

Number 5: Bode Wilde (Defense | Age: 19)

When Bode Wilde was available for the Islanders in the second round I was jumping for joy. This is someone who in most drafts would go in the 15-20 range but for some reason fell to the second round.

Last year, Wilde proved that he’s a first-round talent by putting up a whopping 70 points (19 goals, 51 assists) in the OHL. Wilde will be taking his talents to Bridgeport and will likely need a year or two of development before being NHL ready.
