Here’s the jersey concept from John Elbertson

Do you like the colors of the fisherman, but don’t like the fisherman logo? Boy, do I have the jersey for you. See this third jersey concept from John Elbertson.

To be fair, all three of them look great. The soft blue and orange striping look great. But that third jersey with the teal and lighthouse secondary logo on the shoulders looks exactly like the fisherman jersey (minus the wave).

Instead of a fisherman crest, this concept uses the “NY” logo the Islanders introduced as part of the stadium series back in 2014. With the orange and teal highlights, the logo really pops out of the center of the jersey.

And I love it. John took the fisherman logo and straightened it out, quite literally.

Maybe this is still a little too close to home for some. Any version of the fisherman jersey is a bad jersey for them. Again, that’s a fair opinion to have. (You’re not going to like my next jersey on this list.)

But if there was ever a way to bring back aspects of the fisherman jersey and make it palatable for as many fans as possible, I think this is the one. I’ve put this one up to number three for that fact. It’s a great jersey and it can bring two sections of the fan base together.
