2. The Fisherman

Here’s the jersey concept from Jarred Pozzobon

Warning, this slide is all about the fisherman jersey. If you hate everything about the fisherman this slide will trigger you.

I don’t think it’s such a bad idea to bring back the fisherman logo. I also understand why other fans don’t share my views about the fisherman, or why management, who’ve spent the last two years building up a ton of positivity around the team, would be willing to do this.

Bringing back the fisherman logo could easily blow up in their faces, and undo a lot of the good work they’ve done in reshaping the New York Islanders brand.

But I like this jersey a bunch. The colors work perfectly together.  The navy blue home jersey looks just as slick thanks to those white patches on the shoulders. The white away jersey is perhaps the better of the two. The orange and teal colors are vibrant in the field of white.

For me, this is the exact type of third jerseys I’d like the Islanders to use. I know I might be in minority. And I know that the Islanders brass won’t be bringing back the Fisherman any time soon (if ever). But I like the thought of taking something from our darkest period and trying to give it a positive story.
