The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 104 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.
We’re now halfway through August and the summer is absolutely flying by. The New York Islanders will be playing hockey 51 days from now (RIP in peace Frans Neilsen and Weird Frans a.k.a. Val Filppula) and it can’t come soon enough.
It’s still been very quiet but there was another Mitch Marner rumor so we’ll talk about how legit that may or may not be. Even if it was possible would the Islanders be able to afford Mitch Marner and his mega-cap hit.
We also wanted to talk about the power play. One of the biggest talking points last year was the power play and how poor it was. Some pointed to Josh Ho-Sang on the power play being able to help but would it really make a difference?
Devon Toews was really good in his first year with the Islanders. We wanted to do a year one recap and talk about what his ceiling could be at this level.
Here’s what you can expect from episode 104:
Mitch Marner Offer Sheet Rumor
What’s going to happen with Mitch Marner? If an offer sheet is really in play would the Islanders be able to afford it?
Power Play Needs Closers
While some have pointed to Josh Ho-Sang as a potential fix to the power play Mitch isn’t so sure. We’ll discuss on what the power play actually needs.
Devon Toews’ rookie year
Devon Toews was even better than we expected in year one. What’s his ceiling and what can we expect from him this year?
In the social segment, we’ll answer questions and talk about the biggest stuff from Isles Twitter this past week.
