Number 13: Sebastian Aho (Defense) | Age: 23

Bridgeport Sound Tigers: 9G, 37A, 46PTS

The New York Islanders 139th overall pick in the 2017 NHL draft is ready. We’ve already seen Sebastian Aho at the NHL level just two seasons ago. In 22 games with the Islanders in 2017-18, he scored four points. He looked like he fit in the NHL.

It took him a game or two but by the end of his 22 game stint, we all saw how intelligent he was out on the ice. He made smart decisions with the puck in the defensive zone and easily matched the pace and intensity of the NHL.

But to the AHL he went in 2018-19, and boy did he have a good season. With 46 points, Sebastian Aho finished tied for second on the team in scoring. Only Chris Bourque had more points with 54.

Again, Sebastian Aho is ready for the NHL. But with a log jam of talent on the Islanders blue line, it’s tough to see him make the team this season.

He’s going to do his best to break into the NHL this season which should make things interesting at training camp. Not only will Noah Dobson have to compete against established NHL veterans but hungry guys like Sebastian Aho who’ve already proven what they can do at the AHL level.

If Noah Dobson has a chance to make the NHL this season, then so does Sebastian Aho.
