DALLAS, TX – JUNE 23: Bode Wilde poses after being selected 41st by the New York Islanders during the 2018 NHL Draft at American Airlines Center on June 23, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by Tom Pennington/Getty Images) /

Number 9: Bode Wilde (Defense) | Age: 19

Saginaw Spirit (OHL) Stats: 19 G, 51 A, 70 PTS

The New York Islanders were lucky to have Bode Wilde fall to them in the 2018 draft. Wilde, who was projected to go in the mid-late first round was there in the second and the Isles were wise to pounce on that opportunity.

In his first season playing in the OHL, Wilde put up monster numbers 70 points (19 goals, 51 assists) in 62 games is unreal stuff. He will likely take his talents to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Since Wilde was drafted out of an American organization, the USDP, he is able to play in the AHL at 19, unlike Noah Dobson who was drafted from a QMJHL team.

Dobson is a strong two-way defender who is a righty, something that is a rare find. The Isles are lucky to have him in their system and after a year or two in the AHL, he should be ready to make the jump to the NHL.
