DALLAS, TX – JUNE 22: Noah Dobson poses after being selected twelfth overall by the New York Islanders during the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft at American Airlines Center on June 22, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by Tom Pennington/Getty Images)

Number 3: Noah Dobson (Defense) | Age: 19

Acadie-Bathurst Titan Stats: 9 G, 7 A, 16 PTS

Rouyn-Noranda Huskies: 6 G, 30 A, 36 PTS

Noticing a trend here? Another tale of two seasons for a New York Islanders prospect. Noah Dobson was okay with Acadie-Bathurst but once he moved over to Rouyn-Noranda he began to blow up.

Dobson was even better come playoff time, as he had 29 points in 20 games on his way to his second straight Memorial Cup.

Lou Lamoriello was signing Dobson’s praises this offseason, and it appears he will have a legit shot to make the Islanders roster in September. At a minimum, he should receive a nine-game trial.

Now, the difference between Dobson and Wilde/Wahlstrom is that Dobson isn’t AHL eligible. It’s either back to the QMJHL or a full year with the New York Islanders. Just a couple of years ago we saw Beauvillier and Barzal get the trial. Beau stayed while Barzal was sent back. WIll Noah Dobson be able to play in the NHL at 19? A lot of people think he’s ready.
