Casey Cizikas had a breakout year in 2018-2019 for the New York Islanders. He attributes his success to the reunion of the fourth line.

Raise your hand if you had Casey Cizikas down for 20 goals last year. Okay, now put it down because you’re lying. Nobody thought the New York Islanders had a 20 goal scorer on their fourth line.

Cizikas, whose previous career-high in goals was nine, set the world on fire and easily became the best fourth line center in the sport.

Where did this sudden surge of goals come from? Well, according to Cizikas reuniting with Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck played a major factor in his career-year.

"Being reunited with Marty and Cal was just that comfort level. It was something that all three of us were looking forward to"

Does this mean we can expect another 20 goal season out of Casey? Probably not. His shooting percentage skyrocketed to 18 percent last year. Going from never hitting double digits in goals to 20 is such an extreme outlier.

Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I think he drops off to giving the Islanders seven goals and 20 points again. You can probably expect him in the 10-15 range and somewhere between 25-30 points which is more than acceptable from your fourth-line center.

Cizikas isn’t your prototypical fourth-line center. He’s an important piece to this Islanders team and Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck round out a very formidable unit on that line.
