The New York Islanders have worn six different alternate jerseys throughout their 47-year history. Some of these jerseys have been great, and well the others… not so great.

The New York Islanders didn’t wear their first alternate jersey until 2002 – that’s 30 years into their existence without a third jersey.

Although an alternate jersey is nice to have, it’s not necessary. Honestly, I think the New York Islanders are fine without the third jersey option as their home and away options are well above good enough.

However, without these jerseys, I wouldn’t be able to write this third installment of my Islanders jersey ranking series – the first being the home jerseys and the second being the away jerseys.

I know some of you may be thinking that just like the Islanders jersey situation, there is no need for a third. But, just like the Islanders, I’m doing it anyway.

So if you forgot how my rankings work, I rank these jerseys based on my personal bias, the success of the team during the time, and how long the jerseys lasted. The order in which the jerseys will be ranked is worst to best.
