Anthony Beauvillier is off to a hot start with the New York Islanders with six points in eight games. He deserves some recognition.

One of the bright spots for the New York Islanders offensively at the start of the 2019-2020 season is Anthony Beauvillier. Through the team’s first eight games, Beauvillier has six points (2 goals, 4 assists).

Last year, Beau stumbled out of the gate. In fact, with one point in his first 16 games, he was asleep in the gate (that’s a better description). This year has been the exact opposite.

At the end of 2017-2018, Anthony Beauvillier was on a 60 point pace with Mathew Barzal and Jordan Eberle. The expectation was for him to continue to play at a high level. His point production dropped to 28 points after 36 the year prior.

One of his major flaws was the assist totals. Last year, he had just 10 assists on the entire season. He has nearly half of that through the first eight games. That’s a major step in the right direction for Beauvillier.

Everyone is well aware of the Islanders’ biggest flaw, their offense, but if Beau can be a steady middle-six forward that would help tremendously.

I’m not asking for 60 points, I’d even take 40-45 points. That kind of production would work wonders for this team.

He’s on pace for 62 points while playing with a mix of Michael Dal Colle, Leo Komarov, and Derick Brassard. So far so good for the 22-year-old. Hopefully, this version of Anthony Beauvillier is here to stay
