With ten wins in a row, the 2019-20 Islanders own the second longest winning streak in franchise history. What are the other two?

Nothing beats winning. It’s why players play the game and why everyone tunes in to watch it. As Islanders fans we love nothing more than when the Blue and Orange take the W and the two points that come with it.

When the Islanders can string the wins together to form a streak everything is just a little bit better. Food tastes a little better. Your morning alarm isn’t as annoying as it usually is. And going to work is a generally pleasant experience.

Unfortunately for new fans, the good times haven’t always been rolling. At least not before Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz came onboard.

After the dynasty years, winning wasn’t something the Islanders did a whole lot. From 1989 through to 2018 the Isles made the playoffs ten times from a possible 29 seasons. That includes a seven year playoff drought from 1995 to 2001.

But since the hiring of Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz the Islanders are winning again. The good times are back. In only their second year in charge the Islanders were able to put up a ten-game win streak. A streak that would be the second longest win streak in franchise history.
