Josh Bailey

Josh Bailey has scored 56 points or more over the last three seasons. It took a while, but the ninth overall pick in 2008 is showing that he’s a top-six forward in the NHL. And again, Josh Bailey is on pace for yet another productive season.

Over the Islanders seven-game winning streak Bailey has recorded six points. Three goals and three primary assists. Along with the other three points Bailey scored prior to the Islanders winning streak, he has nine points in eleven games.

Putting him on pace for a 67 points season. With the injured Jordan Eberle out, Josh Bailey has stepped up to play next to Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee.

Reconnecting with Anders Lee has been beneficial for the Islanders. Of Lee’s three goals over this seven-game stretch, Josh Bailey has primary assists on two of them.

During Lee’s 40 goal season Bailey was key to Lee’s success. So it’s no surprise that the two are productive together once again. The question is going to be what happens when Jordan Eberle eventually returns to the ice?

Will Barry Trotz keep the Lee-Bailey connection going? Or will Eberle step in to reconnect with Mathew Barzal? So far, Barzal has been fine without Eberle on his wing so perhaps it’s best to keep Bailey on the top line and keep that connection between Bailey and Lee going a little longer.

An honorable mention goes to Devon Toews. The 25-year-old defenseman has eight points over the season, with six during this seven-game winning streak. He’s on pace to smash his 18 points from last year. The ceiling on this former fourth-round pick just keeps getting higher.
