The New York Islanders won their 10th game in a row last night, and since the start of the 2018-2019 season, they’ve been nearly unbeatable when scoring 3 goals.
Another day, another New York Islanders win. The Islanders are now on a 10-game win streak and are sitting at 11-3 on the season in second place in the Metropolitan. The team is tied for most wins in the NHL with the Capitals and Bruins, yet they’ve played two less games than Washington and one less than Boston.
It was a pretty dominant win last night over the Ottawa Senators. A couple of third-period goals made it a 4-1 game which just added to the incredible stat the Isles have going for them.
During the Barry Trotz era, the team is 48-2-2 when scoring three goals or more. 48-2-2! That’s a .923 win percentage, I can’t even wrap my small brain around how that is possible. This team is nearly unbeatable when they score three goals in a game.
That’s why I beat the drum saying the Isles need to find more scoring. They have phenomenal defense and goalie play, just a tad more scoring to make sure that you hit the three-goal mark on a nightly basis is all this team needs.
This team is incredible, and Barry Trotz is a genius. For the second year in a row, he is putting himself in the Jack Adams conversation, as analytics guys scratch their head and shake their fist at the anomaly that is the Barry Trotz Islanders.
