When the Islanders top-six isn’t producing, it’s up to the bottom six to step up and provide some depth scoring. That’s exactly what Casey Cizikas did this week.

Playing as the third line center as the Islanders shift things around to cover injuries, Cizikas has four points in his last three games. He and Cal Clutterbuck have given the Islanders some depth offense when guys like Anthony Beauvillier or Brock Nelson aren’t necessarily putting up the points.

As we know, it’s not just production that makes Casey Cizikas so good.

Over his last week, Cizikas helped the Islanders establish a 90 percent efficiency on the penalty kill. The only blemish was thanks to Aleksander Barkov and the Florida Panthers.

Cizikas also killed in the faceoff circle. Over the Islanders three games this week, Cizikas has averaged a 62.2 faceoff win percentage. His best showing was against Ottawa, where he won 15 of 20 faceoffs.

Over the entire season, Cizikas actually has the seventh-best faceoff win percentage in the league with a 58.4 win percentage. Last year, Cizikas averaged a 49.1 faceoff win percentage ranking him 68th in the NHL.

There aren’t many players that are as good as Cizikas in the role he plays.
