The New York Islanders are expected to get Leo Komarov back after he missed nine games due to neck soreness and an illness.

Through the first seven games, Leo Komarov was fairly productive for the New York Islanders. He had three assists averaging just over 12:30 of ice time per night. Then, an illness came and kept him out of the lineup.

Day to day for an illness is normal, but a couple of days turned into nine games after that illness also became neck soreness. Nonetheless, Uncle Leo is expected to make his return to the lineup on Wednesday.

Komarov should slot in on the Isles third line, where he spent a majority of the season last year with Val Filppula and Anthony Beauvillier. Now, it seems to be up in the air who he will be playing with.

Leo plays on the wing usually, but with Cizikas banged up he may have to slot in on the Islanders fourth line as a center (a role I prefer him in). The Islanders are getting Komarov back at the perfect time though, he should be all good to go for Wednesday when John Tavares and the Maple Leafs come to town.

The Isles like to play that Maple Leafs team physical, and it usually works, and Leo brings just that. He had 203 hits last year and he’s notorious for finishing his checks. With the Isles bottom-six a little banged up, Leo Komarov is actually going to be a welcomed addition.
