The New York Islanders are on an absolute tear with points in 13 straight. Is he the Jack Adams winner for the second year in a row?

The last time a coach has won back to back Jack Adams awards was 1987 and 1988 when Jacques Demers took home the award as the coach of the Detroit Red Wings. Islanders Head Coach, Barry Trotz is making a strong case to become the first coach to do it since.

The 2018-2019 Islanders were a fluke they said. They’re going to regress they yelled citing their PDO and expected goals for, and suddenly here we are with the Islanders on a 13 game point streak and the third-most points in the league despite playing less games than every other team in the top-20.

Tom Gulitti says that it’s early, but Barry Trotz has to be in the conversation for the Jack Adams again. He’s right.

Trotz has lost upwards of five forwards at some point this year and still was able to get his team to the best start in franchise history after 17 games. Yes, guys like Dave Tippett also make a lot of sense but look at the talent pool he’s working with.

Imagine having the luxury of having Leon Draistatl and Connor McDavid? The Isles have Mat Barzal and essentially a bunch of role players who continuously play the right way and win hockey games each and every night.

I understand it’s way early, but he has to be in the conversation for the award again this year. What Trotz is able to do with this roster is nothing short of a modern miracle.
