Projected Lines

New York Islanders

With Matt Martin activated off IR, Leo Komarov has found himself a spot on the healthy scratch list. Wherever you stand on Leo Komarov as a player or a member of the Islanders being a healthy scratch is surprising. The veteran forward is the type of player this Islanders regime seems to value a lot. But tonight, he’s on the scratchpad over guys like Otto Koivula and Michael Dal Colle.

I’m still surprised that Dobson can’t buy ice-time yet. Eventually, it will come, but when?

The injuries keep on piling up for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Apparently, defenseman Justin Schultz left practice yesterday with a groin injury. Here’s the list of injuries the Penguins are dealing with at the moment: Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, Nick Bjugstad, Patric Hornqvist, Justin Schultz.

It would seem that the Islanders are catching the Penguins at the right time.

It’s not to say the Islanders can roll the Penguins. Malkin is still a point-per-game player. Jake Guentzel has 18 points in 21 games, including a team-high ten goals. And Bryan Rust has been on fire with seven goals in ten games.

The Penguins might be battered and bruised from a number of long seasons, but they still have enough quality to compete.
