Anthony Beauvillier has been great for the New York Islanders this year. He continued his success with a great game last night.
21:24, that’s how much Anthony Beauvillier played in the New York Islanders overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights. He lead all Islanders forwards in ice time and it was easy to see why, he was great.
On Brock Nelson’s goal in the third period, it was Anthony Beauvillier’s forecheck that lead to the goal. In years gone by, if Beau wasn’t scoring than he wasn’t productive. Not anymore.
Beau has 18 points (9 goals, 9 assists) in 27 games. He’s on pace for 55 points and 27 goals. What’s different about him this year is his assist numbers.
His career-high in assists is 15 and he had just 10 last year, now he’s got nine and the Islanders aren’t even halfway through their season.
While guys like Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle have gotten off to slow starts this season, Beauvillier’s unexpected play has been something keeping the Islanders afloat. If he turns into a reliable top-six piece that makes Barry Trotz and Lou Lamoriello’s life a lot easier.
