The New York Islanders host the Flyers, in Brooklyn, tonight before heading on the road for 4 games. Here’s everything to know about the matchup.

The New York Islanders host the Philadelphia Flyers, in what is a must-win for both teams.

Both the Islanders and Philly are coming into their second game of back to back games. Last night, the Islanders beat the Washington Capitals in convincing fashion 5-2. Meanwhile, the Flyers beat the Panthers 4-1 in Philly.

In the Eastern Conference Standings, the Islanders hold third place in the Metropolitan division with 70 points in 54 games and the Flyers are right on their tail with 69 points in 56 games, which is good for the second wildcard spot.

The Season Series

So far this season, the Islanders have won both games against the Flyers.

The first time these teams met was on October 27th. Philly got on the board first, one minute into the game, but the Islanders struck back for three unanswered goals. Philly answered again and the first period ended 3-2 in favor of the Islanders. The Islanders pulled away in the second, scoring twice and went on to win 5-3.

The next time these teams met was in November. The Islanders did not have their “A” game and went into the third period down 3-0. The Islanders, led by Anthony Beauvillier (2 goals) and Mathew Barzal (1 goal) forced the game into overtime. The game eventually went into a shootout, where Jordan Eberle and Barzal scored and Thomas Greiss got the win 4-3.

Tonight is the third of four matchups between the Islanders and Philly this season.

Tale of the Tape

As seen by the Tale of the Tape, this game is an extremely even matchup and tonight is anyone’s game. Can the Isles keep their perfect record against the Flyers? Leave your comments below!

Betting Odds

The Isles come in as favorites tonight at a -125 money line, courtesy of the Action Network.

The blue and orange have won both matchups this season and are coming off a huge win last night against the Capitals. A win tonight would give them much-needed distance from the Flyers, who are right on their tails. I would play the favorites in this one.
