Keys to the Game

Quick Start

Back to back games in the NHL are extremely tough. It’s not so often that you see two teams both playing the back end of back to backs against each other.

A quick start may be the difference in tonight’s game. If the Isles can start quickly and force their game on the Flyers, it may be tough for Philly to get their game going.

A goal or two in the first five minutes for the Isles may be critical to getting two points in tonight’s game.

Special Teams

In a divisional matchup, penalties will be taken. When you face a team four times a year, there will be bad blood. Tonight is no different!

When the Islanders get a powerplay they must capitalize on their man advantage. They need to make Philly pay for taking penalties and the best way to do that is by scoring goals.

The Flyers do not have one of the best powerplays, so it is crucial that the Islanders keep them off the board when they go a man down.

If the Islanders stay out of the box and capitalize on their powerplays, they will win this game.
