November – 17 game point stream

Record: 9-2-2  0.796 Pts% (Season: 17-5-2)

From November 1 through to November 24 the New York Islanders would only drop four points from a possible 20. Combined with the seven wins at the end of October, they’d go 17 games straight with at least a point.

Those 17 games would prove to be the longest point streak in Islanders franchise history. The previous longest streak in team history was a 15 game point streak in 1981-82.

Through the month of November, the Islanders would beat teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Pittsburgh Penguins (twice), the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Their goal differential through that point streak in November was +10. Likely putting a huge smile on Lou Lamoriello’s face who’s always stated goal differential is all that matters to him.

While the Islanders weren’t at the top of the Metropolitan Division, they weren’t far from the Washinton Capitals. The Caps were at the top of the Metro with 43 points and the Isles second with 36 points. The Isles also had four games in-hand on the Caps at the end of November.

For Islanders fans, it was proof that the 103 point season from 2018-19 wasn’t a fluke but that Barry Trotz and Lou Lamoriello knew exactly what they were doing.
