It was a good day for Islanders prospects yesterday. Most of the four prospects had strong outings for their respective clubs.
Matias Rajaniemi had didn’t put up a point, but then he’s more of a stay-at-home type of defenseman. After a couple of games playing around 20 minutes, Raja has his minutes drop yesterday. Which is fine, he’s still young.
It was a loss for Henrik Tikkanen and KalPa yesterday, but the Isles seventh-round pick from the most recent draft only allowed a single goal against on 18 shots against. He has a 2-2-2 record on the year while averaging a 1.75GAA and 0.931SV%. Incredible stuff. According to his GM, Tikkanen wasn’t yet supposed to be playing at the Liiga level, but injuries forced their hand, and clearly, he is making the best of his opportunity.
(Note that Tikkanen is no longer on loan from IPK but is actually signed to a deal with KalPa.)
Ruslan Iskhakov is now on a five-game point streak. Look back a bit further and he has ten points in his last eight and 13 over his last 12. Things are going very well for him at the moment.
Collin Adams had himself a dominant game for UND as they entered the NCHC playoffs. The Isles prospects scored 14 seconds into the game and would hit the back of the net just over five minutes later. With a solid 6-2 win over Miami, UND is now onto the semis.
