Prospect Rankings and Movement
Collin Adams ↑ | Blade Jenkins ↓
With that strong performance for UND, Collin Adams has jumped up my rankings by a single spot. He entered the day ranked 17th for Islanders prospects just behind AHL’er Blade Jenkins. But with his five-point night, he’s leaped Jenkins to take the 16th spot.
I would be stunned if Adams walks to free agency at the end of his season.
The senior could go the Jimmy Vesey route and go to the highest bidder, but why not play in the Isles system? The Isles are in desperate need of center dept in the system. He’ll absolutely get playing time in the A next season. He’d also be joining an organization that has Stanley Cup aspirations.
Sure, things aren’t going very well at the AHL level the last few years, but who says that a guy with Adams’s talent cant help turn that around to some degree?
Jenkins hasn’t done much at the AHL level with zero points in two games played. At least he’s getting pro-level practice with the Sound Tigers, but sitting on the bench isn’t exactly good for his development. Although with Worcester pulling out of the 2021 season, the Isles don’t really have much flexibility in giving him playing time unless he earns it.
